General Fee Information

Fees & Cost of Living
Every 3 years, fees will be reviewed in accordance with inflation/cost of living. This is the case for 2026.

Paying Online
For Reference line - add your name unless you have been given a formal invoice with number. Formal invoices will only be sent on request.

When paying online we really appreciate the invoice number or name being quoted in the reference line. This helps my bookkeeper keep track of who has paid. Thanks for remembering to do this.

Lessons Begin
Lessons will begin once fee payment has been received.

Fee & Miscellaneous Days/Dates/Events

Planned Teacher Absence
Occasionally there will be a teacher absence for various reasons. Replacements to be mutually agreed could include longer lessons either side to make up the time.

Teacher Sick Day
Any lessons lost due to teacher unavailability will be credited and adjusted in the next fee round.

Public Holidays
Students whose lessons fall on a public holiday (eg. Anzac Day, the King’s Birthday, Melbourne Cup Day) can elect to take the holiday and will be credited . Please give ample warning for administration purposes.

Note: For ‘in person’ students, online lessons are always an alternative option to create flexibility in access. eg. in case of flooded roads or illness in your house - Let Unmani know beforehand.

Cancellations, Make-up Lessons and Refunds

Missed Lessons
Except for payment option 3 (explained below), if you can’t attend your lesson I am not obligated to offer a make-up lesson, as you have booked your specific time allotment. (Similar to a gym booking).

Some Options for Missed Lessons
In the case of private lessons, you may also wish to gift a missed lesson to a friend or family member in situations such as your own holiday. The student before or after your time receives a double session which is often very much appreciated. Students really enjoy this mutual gift giving over time. What goes around comes around!

Private lesson students may also like to gift a friend or family member with a fun introductory lesson to use up time slot.

Extended Holidays
For EXTENDED HOLIDAYS OF 4 WEEKS OR MORE within the teaching term times, you can opt to not pay for those lessons. You need to understand that your agreed time slot is then open for another booking and you MAY need to renegotiate your lesson time on return.

Discontinuing Lessons
Thirty (30) days notice in writing will be required if you choose to discontinue lessons whether attended or not and the direct debit will be cancelled at the end of that period.

Referrals

Word of Mouth Referrals
There is a big proportion of word-of-mouth referrals in this studio. Thank you for helping me save on advertising. I really would prefer to use my precious time teaching!! To say thank you for any referrals that result in a lesson commitment, I offer a 4 week fee reduction.

Fee Payment Options - Adults

PAYMENT OPTION 1 - (this is the Studio’s preferred option and choice of the vast majority of students)

A monthly direct debit spread over 12-months at the current Private or Shared lesson fee rate:
Private Lesson $38 per lesson = $152.00 per month
Shared Lesson $32 per lesson = $128.00 per month

Overview
In 2025 students have a total of 48 lessons from the week starting Sunday January 12th to the week finishing Sunday 7th December 2025.

Benefits
Families will hopefully benefit from their financial commitment to lessons being spread over 12 months and I maintain a secure income throughout the 12 months of the year (including my own holidays).

Payment
Students organise an automatic, recurring direct deposit to Unmani Music for the year through your online banking. This payment is to be set for payment on 1st of the month (2nd at the latest).
Late payments after the 2nd of the month, incur a penalty of $25.

Missed Lessons
There is no option to make up missed lessons. Students wanting that option should choose payment Option 3 (see below). The lesson booking is based on the premise that students are permanently reserving a time slot that is unavailable to anybody else.

Discontinue Lessons
Thirty (30) days notice will be required in writing if you choose to discontinue lessons, whether attended or not, and the direct deposit to be cancelled at the end of that period.

PAYMENT OPTION 2

3 x Unmani Music Studio Terms dividing the year into terms of 15/16 weeks.
Music Term 1 – Mid January to late April
Music Term 2 – Late April to Mid/Late August
Music Term 3 – Late August to approx. Week 2 in December
These term lengths can vary from 14 to 16 weeks each depending if the school student elects to take the autumn, winter and spring holidays off.

Payment per Unmani Music Term at a fee rate of:
Private Lesson
$40 per lesson
e.g. 16 lesson term @ $40 per lesson = $640

Shared Lesson
$35 per lesson
e.g. 16 lesson term @ $35 per lesson = $560

Overview

  • This option is based on the premise that students are permanently reserving a time slot that is unavailable to anybody else.

  • Fees to be paid on the last lesson of the preceding Term.

  • There is no option to make up missed lessons. Students wanting that option should choose payment Option 3 (see below).
